I celebrate Summer Solstice over three full days each year when the Sun rises at the Southern most point of its trajectory when viewed towards the East from the Te Atatu Peninsula, Tamaki Makaurau, Aotearoa.
This suspension is something that can be felt physically in the nerve plexus of the heart centre and also in mysterious quietening of the surrounding whirling world.
It’s the place at the top of the jump, as if on a trampoline, where the body is no longer still ascending nor yet descending. When the body is hanging in emptiness. This suspension invites a moment of gratitude or reverent acknowledgement.
In these three special days we can float. When all is perfect. When life exhibits it’s fecundity and offers itself generously in stillness.
The three days of the Solstice are sacred. There is nothing to do other than to luxuriate in being. Somehow there is incredible abundance all around.
Today thanks to chanting, dancing and delicious cool fresh air, my head is clearing and suspending all concerns for the future. Let the machinations float on. Enough planning and organising, enough promotion and concern, enough making ready. We’re here.
It can take a hot minute to unwind into the pure magic. Whether it’s a beach walk, the song of the wind in the trees, an afternoon nap, an extra glass of water, the laughter of a neighbourhood child in the street.
Blessings on this moment, on our families, our ancestral waters,
Forgiveness in the form of breath, Hā ki roto, Hā ki waho
Gratitude to our guides, seen and unseen, in form and in spirit,
Mauri Ora <3

The perfect song for Summer Solstice! written by the divine Brooke Hayley and performed here by the two of us as Ora Vida Life in the forest at the foot of Karioi, Whaingaroa.
Love this! My friends and I drummed in the dark along the Potomac River and sent our wishes into the River!
We’re here 💘
